Unauthenticated privilege escalation via residual thread roles

Broken access control in Eclipse Jetty's JASPI authenticator allows remote attackers to inherit privileges from an earlier request. JaspiAuthenticator stores GroupPrincipalCallback roles in ThreadLocal state, then missing-callback or exception paths return before clearing that state. Exploitation requires JASPI, an incomplete authentication flow, and reuse of the same worker thread; successful requests inherit residual roles and can access or alter protected resources without interrupting service.
