Unauthenticated file write via thumbnail path traversal
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Path traversal in Eclipse BaSyx Java Server SDK 2.0.0-milestone-05 through 2.0.0-milestone-12 allows remote attackers to write files. The thumbnail upload path reuses the client-controlled fileName as a GridFS key and then as an unnormalized local path during retrieval. Only MongoDB-backed deployments are exposed; retrieval writes the uploaded bytes wherever the Java process has permission, enabling code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
