Unauthenticated stored script execution via unescaped image URLs
Published Jul 2, 2026 · Updated Jul 2, 2026
Stored XSS in Themeisle Optimole 4.2.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through image URLs. The build_url method in inc/url_replacer.php passes the attacker-controlled URL to image normalization without esc_url, allowing active content to survive into generated page output. No authentication is required, but a user must visit an injected page; the script then executes in that browser under the affected site origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
