Web request hangs via route regex backtracking

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

ReDoS in RIGANTI DotVVM before 4.2.11, 4.3.15, and 5.0.0-preview09-final allows remote attackers to hang web requests. DotvvmRouteParser.RouteRegex builds an ambiguous expression for multiple unconstrained parameters in one segment, and DotvvmRoute.IsMatch evaluates attacker-controlled near-match paths without a timeout. Exposure requires such a route to be registered; a long near-match path drives excessive backtracking and CPU use, interrupting request handling without affecting data confidentiality or integrity.
