Stored XSS via unsafe Markdown description links
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Stored XSS in Lychee before 7.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through gallery-description links. The allow_unsafe_links setting in config/markdown.php preserves javascript URIs during Markdown conversion, and gallery components insert the resulting description HTML through v-html without sanitization. Exploitation requires album-edit permissions and a visitor clicking the link, including in public albums, exposing session data accessible in the Lychee origin.
