Heap disclosure and crash via unchecked virtual-text bounds
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Vim 9.2.0320 through 9.2.0678 allows context-dependent attackers to crash Vim or read adjacent heap data. Text-property code converts an unchecked virtual-text offset into a pointer and reads tp_len plus one bytes beyond the available property data. Exploitation requires a user to open a crafted undo or swap file and restore, display, or query the malformed line.
