Published Jun 26, 2026 · Updated Jun 26, 2026
Stored XSS in Mervin Praison Featured Image 2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via image metadata. The shortcode and caption functions place attachment alt text and caption content into generated HTML without attribute escaping or content sanitization. Administrator-level access is required, and exposure is limited to multisite installations or sites with unfiltered_html disabled; the stored script runs when a visitor loads the affected output.
