Contributor-level file deletion via thumbnail traversal
Published Jun 29, 2026 · Updated Jun 29, 2026
Path traversal in thumbnail cleanup in Epiphyt Embed Privacy 1.12.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete PHP-accessible files. The cleanup routine joins a filename stored in post metadata to the thumbnail directory and unlinks it without reducing it to a basename. Contributor-level access and enabled automatic video-thumbnail downloads are required; traversal segments can target any file that PHP can delete and break the site.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
