Host environment disclosure via malformed image Env
Published Jun 26, 2026 · Updated Jun 26, 2026
Information disclosure in Podman 1.8.1 through 5.8.3 allows attackers to read host environment variables via a malicious image. Shared image and command-line parsing treats key-only or wildcard image Env entries as requests to copy matching values from the launching host environment. Exploitation requires the target to run an attacker-controlled OCI image, after which the container can read every matched variable but cannot alter the host through this flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
