CVE-2026-57170

Arbitrary code execution via re-parsed Markdown templates

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Server-side template injection in OSCAL Compass Compliance-trestle before 3.12.4 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.3 allows local users to execute code. The MDSectionInclude and MDCleanInclude tags compile included Markdown through Parser.parse in a non-sandboxed Jinja2 environment instead of emitting it as literal text. Low-privileged access to supply OSCAL prose or component descriptions is sufficient; processing that content runs commands with the Trestle process privileges.
