Unauthenticated MCP access via skipped credential validation
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Improper authentication in PraisonAI 1.5.1 through 1.7.1 allows remote attackers to access protected MCP tools and resources. MCPSecurity.evaluatePolicy() calls the configured validator only for API-key and bearer policies, so Basic and OAuth policies treat any non-empty Authorization header as authenticated. The bypass requires a downstream application configured to protect an MCP endpoint with Basic or OAuth and permits reading protected resources or invoking exposed tools.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
