Authenticated command injection via shell chaining

Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026

OS command injection in PraisonAI 1.5.1 through 1.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via crafted tool input. The utility-tools shell() helper checks only the first whitespace-delimited token against safeCommands, then passes the complete string to child_process.exec(), so shell operators append unapproved commands. Reachability requires a lower-trust user, prompt, model output, plugin, or integration to control the helper's command string; execution inherits the PraisonAI process privileges.
