CVE-2026-5713

Privileged memory read and write via unvalidated offsets

Published Apr 14, 2026 · Updated Apr 14, 2026

Out-of-bounds memory access in CPython before 3.14.5 allows local users to read or write memory in an attaching privileged process. The remote-debug unwinder trusts attacker-controlled offset-table sizes and field offsets when sizing fixed local reads and dereferencing process layouts. Exploitation requires a privileged user to repeatedly attach profiling or asyncio introspection tools to a malicious process despite likely ASLR-induced crashes.
