Unauthorized role modification via missing capability check
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Incorrect authorization in SailPoint IdentityIQ before 8.3p5, 8.4p4, or 8.5p2 allows remote authenticated users to alter role definitions. The Role Editor permits a work item's requestor or assignee to save role-definition changes without enforcing the capability required for role editing. Reachability requires an authenticated requestor or assignee and user interaction; successful exploitation permits unauthorized role changes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
