CVE-2026-5708Network attack vector

Authenticated privilege escalation via instance-profile injection

Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026

Attribute injection in AWS Research and Engineering Studio 2023.11 through 2025.12.01 allows remote authenticated users to gain VDI host permissions. The CreateSession API accepts a caller-supplied external instance_profile_arn and replaces the default VDI instance profile without restricting that attribute. Any authenticated portal user who can create a session can attach broader instance-profile permissions and use the resulting desktop to interact with permitted AWS resources and services.
