Heap memory read via unchecked parser lookahead
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in HTML::Bare 0.04 and earlier allows remote attackers to read adjacent heap memory via truncated HTML input. In parserc_parse, fixed cpos advances for CDATA and self-closing-tag tokens assume that bytes remain after the recognized prefix, then dereference a pointer past the NUL terminator. Exposure requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled markup to the default parser; invalid memory access can also crash that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
