PFE crash via crafted TCP response packet
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Improper exceptional-condition handling in the Juniper Networks Junos OS PFE allows remote attackers to crash and restart affected MX and SRX devices. Juniper has not disclosed the PFE parser or check that fails; it reports that a specific TCP response from an attacker-controlled peer crashes the forwarding engine. The attacker needs no Junos credentials, but an affected service must make the TCP connection; all services stop until automatic recovery completes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <23.2R2-S4
- Affected versionversion=23.4 <23.4R2-S5
