Physical privilege escalation via Wacom HID out-of-bounds write
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Android kernel Wacom HID driver allows physically proximate attackers to escalate privileges through a crafted HID device. In wacom_hid_set_device_mode, the driver assumes HID_DG_INPUTMODE is in the first feature-report field and writes through field[0] using an index from another field without checking the value-array bounds. Exploitation requires a physically attached device presenting that layout; the kernel memory corruption can cross the device's privilege boundary without user interaction.
