Local privilege escalation via epoll use-after-free
Published Oct 6, 2026 · Updated Oct 6, 2026
Use-after-free in ep_free in the Android kernel allows local users to escalate privileges through an epoll race condition. The ep_free routine in eventpoll.c can release an eventpoll object while concurrent kernel activity still uses it, leaving a dangling reference. Exploitation requires local execution but no additional execution privileges or user interaction; the reported consequence is privilege escalation.
