Workflow execution via read-scope authorization
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in n8n before 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute read-only workflows. The POST /workflows/{workflowId}/test-runs/new endpoint checks workflow:read instead of workflow:execute before dispatching an evaluation test run to the internal workflow runner. Exploitation requires the Evaluations feature and a role with read but not execute access, and it can cause outbound API calls or downstream data mutations.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
