Authenticated service interruption via unbounded Debian package parsing
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Denial of service in Gitea before 1.27.0 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt the service via a crafted Debian upload. ParseControlFile copies an unlimited decompressed control.tar.gz stream into a strings.Builder, while Description continuation lines trigger quadratic string copying. Package-registry write access is required; one upload can exhaust memory, saturate a CPU core, and stop the Gitea service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
