Account takeover via conflicting user identifiers
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Authorization bypass in Camaleon CMS 2.9.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite another user's credentials. The UsersController authorizes params[:id], but updated_ajax loads the account from params[:user_id], so one request is checked against one user and applied to another. A low-privileged account can reset an administrator password and take control of the site without victim interaction.
