Authentication downgrade via unfiltered settings assignment
Published Jul 15, 2026 · Updated Jul 15, 2026
Mass assignment in 9Router before 0.5.4 allows remote authenticated users to disable application authentication through PATCH /api/settings. The PATCH handler passes nearly every body field to updateSettings, whose object spread overwrites stored requireLogin and related security settings. A valid session is required; disabling requireLogin exposes protected routes and stored API keys to unauthenticated remote access.
