Unauthenticated image file read via path traversal
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Path traversal in ComfyUI before 0.28.0 allows remote attackers to read image-decodable host files through the model-preview endpoint. In app/model_manager.py, get_model_preview passes an unrestricted filename route capture to os.path.join without verifying that the resolved path remains under the selected model directory. The route requires no authentication, but default instances bind to localhost; Pillow decoding limits direct reads to supported image formats, while errors expose file existence and internal paths.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
