Worker crash via out-of-bounds proxy response write

Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in Apache HTTP Server 2.4.0 through 2.4.68 allows remote attackers to crash a worker via crafted proxied responses. In mod_proxy_html, dump_content writes beyond a buffer while processing a crafted HTTP response body; Apache has not disclosed the precise faulty bounds operation. Exposure requires the proxy HTML output filter to be enabled and an untrusted backend response to pass through it.
