Root command execution via unsanitized management packets
Published Jun 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026
Command injection in StoneFly Storage Concentrator allows remote attackers to execute root commands via network packets. In Storage Concentrator and Storage Concentrator Virtual Machine before 8.0.4.29, ms_service.pl processes custom device-action packets without adequately sanitizing their payloads. Exploitation requires network access to the service, which listens on TCP 9000 by default, but requires neither authentication nor user interaction.
