Process denial of service via stale-pointer write
Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026
Use-after-free in ImageMagick before 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 allows remote attackers to interrupt image-processing applications. The meta coder's super_fgets and super_fgets_w functions retain p after ResizeQuantumMemory fails, allowing termination logic to write one byte through the stale pointer. Exploitation requires a crafted image and an allocation failure; the documented consequence is limited to denial of service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
