Service interruption via unreleased ASHLAR temporary images
Published Jul 15, 2026 · Updated Jul 15, 2026
Memory leak in ImageMagick 7.1.2-18 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to interrupt image processing through ASHLAR input. The ASHLAR coder retains a temporary image instead of destroying it when an action fails, so repeated failures consume process memory. A local or user-assisted processing action must reach the failure path; the bounded result is out-of-memory termination, not data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
