Authenticated file probing and workflow execution via localFile
Published Jul 15, 2026 · Updated Jul 15, 2026
Path traversal in n8n before 2.19.3 allows remote authenticated users to test host file paths through the ExecuteWorkflow REST API. The legacy node accepts localFile from REST-supplied workflow data and reads it without the N8N_RESTRICT_FILE_ACCESS_TO checks used by other file readers. Workflow creation or editing permission is required; arbitrary paths reveal file existence, and valid workflow JSON can be loaded and executed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
