Stored XSS via unsanitized Report API data
Published Apr 6, 2026 · Updated Apr 6, 2026
Stored XSS in GPT Researcher 3.4.0 through 3.4.3 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in a victim's browser via Report API input. The unauthenticated POST /api/reports and PUT /api/reports/{id} handlers store crafted report data without neutralizing it before the frontend renders the data as HTML. A victim must view the affected report, where the script runs under the application's origin and can alter browser-visible content.
