CVE-2026-56254Network attack vector

Forged updates via distributed private signing key

Published Jul 10, 2026 · Updated Jul 10, 2026

Key-management errors in Capacitor Updater before 12.128.2 allow remote attackers to install attacker-signed update bundles. The end-to-end update scheme places its private signing key on every device and accepts bundles signed with that exposed key as publisher-approved. Exploitation requires interception of the update channel or compromise of Capgo's server and results in installation of an update not produced by the app maker.
