CVE-2026-56236Public exploit

Arbitrary file overwrite via unchecked credential symlinks

Published Jun 21, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026

Unsafe credential writes in Capgo CLI before 12.128.2 allow attackers to overwrite local files via repository symlinks. loginInternal writes .capgo before API-key validation, and build credential saving writes .capgo-credentials.json without rejecting symlinks; global credentials also receive world-readable permissions. Overwrites require a developer to run the relevant local command in an attacker-controlled repository and inherit that developer's file access, while other local users can read exposed signing credentials on shared hosts.
