Authentication bypass via expired persistent-cookie replay
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Authentication bypass in Apache Shiro 1.2.4 through 2.x and 3.0.0-alpha-1 allows remote attackers to replay expired persistent-login cookies. CookieRememberMeManager restores principals from a decrypted persistent-login cookie without checking a server-verifiable issuance time or maximum age, leaving client expiry as the lifetime control. Persistent-login functionality must be enabled, and exploitation requires an intercepted valid cookie; replay restores the captured identity after configured expiry.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
