CVE-2026-56116

Same-link service crash via IPv6 route memory leak

Published Jun 23, 2026 · Updated Jun 23, 2026

Memory leak in dhcpcd 10.0.7 through 10.3.2 allows attackers to crash the daemon with crafted IPv6 Router Advertisements. In ipv6nd_expirera(), route entries removed from rap->rinfos after a zero-lifetime Route Information option are not freed, so each advertisement leaves an allocation behind. Repeated same-link advertisements cause linear heap growth until dhcpcd crashes, interrupting host network configuration.
