Administrator account creation via unrestricted user metadata
Published Jun 26, 2026 · Updated Jun 26, 2026
Privilege escalation in Easy Elements for Elementor 1.4.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to create WordPress administrator accounts. The easyel_handle_register AJAX handler passes attacker-controlled custom_meta keys to update_user_meta without blocking wp_capabilities, overwriting the new user’s assigned role. User registration must be enabled and a public page must render the Login/Register widget; exploitation grants full site-administrator control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
