Authenticated email changes via missing API authorization
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Authorization bypass in Gitea 1.26.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to add or remove account email addresses via the API. The POST and DELETE handlers in routers/api/v1/user/email.go omit the UserFeatureManageCredentials check applied by the web interface. Exploitation requires an externally authenticated account and an administrator-disabled credential-management setting, and it defeats centralized control of that account's email addresses.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
