Script execution via unrestricted SVG attachment uploads
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Unsafe attachment uploads in Helium Edu Helium Platform before 2.2.60 allow remote authenticated users to host executable SVG content. The attachment serializer relies on extension and MIME-type blocklists in conf/configs/common.py that omit SVG and HTML, permitting persistent browser-executable attachments. Visitors must open a public attachment URL to execute embedded script; separate-origin storage permits phishing content but prevents access to application cookies or storage in the maintained deployment.
