Internal service reconnaissance via unchecked calendar URL fetching
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
SSRF in Helium Edu Helium Platform before 2.2.60 allows remote authenticated users to probe internal services via calendar URLs. In helium/feed/services/icalexternalcalendarservice.py, validate_url checks URL syntax before passing attacker-selected destinations to urllib.request.urlopen, while fetch_ical_conditional periodically refetches stored URLs. Any valid account suffices, and distinct errors reveal internal port reachability; demonstrated impact excludes credential or secret retrieval.
