Service crash via unbounded DOM traversal
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
PUPnP libupnp before 2.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash UPnP services via stack exhaustion from deeply nested SOAP XML. After parsing succeeds, ixmlPrintDomTreeRecursive in ixml/src/ixml.c and traversal functions in ixml/src/node.c follow child and sibling links recursively without depth limits. Exploitation requires unauthenticated access from the local network to a consuming UPnP service; the documented consequence is a service crash, not data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
