Data corruption via unchecked charset changes
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Charset confusion in MariaDB Connector/J before 2.7.14 and affected 3.x releases allows remote attackers to corrupt application data. OK-packet session-state handling accepts a non-UTF-8 character_set_client change while protocol text encoding and client-side escaping remain fixed at UTF-8. Reachability requires a hostile server or a charset change through SET NAMES, server configuration, a stored routine, or a trigger; the mismatch silently corrupts data and can defeat byte-wise quoting or escaping.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
