Password disclosure via ungated PAM dialog authentication

Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Credential disclosure in MariaDB Connector/Node.js allows remote attackers to obtain account passwords via a crafted PAM dialog request. The SendPamAuthPacketFactory path for the server-selected dialog plugin omits the secure-transport gate used for mysql_clear_password and returns the configured password over plain TCP. Exposure requires an affected connector to reach a hostile or on-path server with PAM dialog authentication over insecure transport; verified TLS or a local Unix socket blocks the path.
