Pre-authentication service interruption via unbounded SPDY inflation
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Netty 4.1 before 4.1.136.Final and 4.2 before 4.2.16.Final allows remote attackers to interrupt services via SPDY. SpdyFrameCodec continues inflating a zlib-compressed HEADERS block after its raw parser exceeds maxHeaderSize and marks the frame truncated. A reachable SPDY pipeline is required; one small block can force disproportionate CPU and allocation work without exposing or altering data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 4.1.0.Final, < 4.1.136.Final
