Arbitrary file read via unsanitized model path

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Path traversal in Sonos tract-onnx affected releases allows context-dependent attackers to read local files via malicious ONNX models. get_external_resources joins the model-controlled external_data location to the model directory without rejecting absolute paths or parent components, and MmapDataResolver maps the resulting file into model tensors. Exploitation requires an application using a release before 0.21.17, 0.22.0 through 0.22.2, or 0.23.0 through 0.23.1 to load an untrusted model; crafted offsets can also trigger a panic, but the flaw neither writes files nor executes code.
