Stored XSS via unescaped restore message content
Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Silverstripe Versioned before 3.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a restoring administrator's browser. RestoreAction::getRestoreMessage() inserts the restored title, URL segment, edit link, and changed value into a CAST_HTML notification without raw2xml escaping. Exploitation requires permission to plant crafted archived content and another user to restore it, exposing that CMS session's confidentiality and integrity.
