Authorization manipulation via reserved-key type confusion
Published Jul 13, 2026 · Updated Jul 13, 2026
Type confusion in CedarJava before 2.3.6, 3.1.2 through 3.4.0, and 4.0.0 through 4.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to influence authorization. CedarMap serialization does not reject reserved single-key __entity and __extn objects, so the Rust evaluator decodes a caller-controlled record as an entity reference. Reachability requires an integrating service to place caller-controlled keys in a CedarMap and a policy to reference the value in a when or unless clause.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.3.6
