CVE-2026-55689Network attack vector

Authentication bypass via omitted JWT audience validation

Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Improper authentication in OpenFGA before 1.18.0 allows remote authenticated users to access the service with mis-scoped JWTs. The OIDC authenticator omitted jwt.WithAudience when authn.oidc.audience was empty, so it accepted validly signed tokens from the configured issuer regardless of audience. Exploitation requires OIDC mode, a configured issuer with no audience, and an attacker-held token for another service from that identity provider.
