Unauthorized sign-in via unchecked JWT audience
Published Jul 10, 2026 · Updated Jul 10, 2026
Authentication bypass in ZITADEL before 3.4.12 and 4.0.0-rc.1 through 4.15.1 allows remote authenticated users to sign in with a cross-service JWT. The external JWT Identity Provider's token validator checks the signature and issuer but accepts a valid token without verifying that its audience identifies ZITADEL. Exploitation requires a valid user token for another relying party from the same trusted issuer and grants access as that token's user.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
