Unauthenticated file read via unchecked filename
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
Path traversal in Aven Wu Whistle before 2.10.3 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files through its HTTP management service. The GET /cgi-bin/temp/get handler passes filename directly to getFile unless it matches the temporary-file pattern and is joined beneath TEMP_FILES_PATH. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposed services disclose any file readable by the Whistle process.
