Desktop session takeover via insufficient Xvnc authentication
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Authentication bypass in neutrinolabs xrdp 0.10.3 through 0.10.6 allows local users to view or control other users' desktops. During the UNIX-domain-socket launch path, xrdp starts Xvnc with insufficient authentication, breaking per-user session isolation. Exploitation requires a local authenticated xrdp session and the Xvnc backend over UNIX domain sockets; xorgxrdp and TCP-backed Xvnc are unaffected.
