Secret disclosure via unchecked cross-project instance copy
Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Improper access control in Incus before 7.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to copy instances from unauthorized projects. During POST /1.0/instances, instances.go authorizes only the target project, while instances_post.go loads req.Source.Project without verifying access to the source instance. Exploitation requires a remotely reachable daemon, valid client credentials, and both restricted project and instance names; copied instances can expose their secrets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
